2023
10.17.23 Farewell, Komal! Today marked our farewell lunch for Dr. Komal Sethi, who is concluding her postdoc with us. Komal has been involved in a large number of projects, some of which are still in the process of being prepared for publication in the near future. But, more importantly, she has been a great colleague and mentor to our team. We are sad to see her go and wish her the best in her future endeavors!
9.1.23 Welcome Mohamed Amin Aguech The lab welcomes Dr. Mohamed Amin Aguech as our newest postdoc. Mohamed completed his PhD at the Chinese Academy of Sciences where he got experience working with solid-state nanopores. He will be focusing on nucleic acid biomarker detection with us. Welcome, Mohamed!
8.21.23 Two new students join the lab We are pleased to welcome two new PhD students to the team beginning in the Fall semester: Haddie Frost, who will focus on developing 3D cell culture/microfluidic technologies, and Tyler Wilson, who will be working on solid-state nanopore diagnostic analyses of cancer biomarkers. We are happy to have you with us!
6.5.23 Presentations at ISHAS 2023 Dorothea and Adam attended the 2023 meeting of the International Society for Hyaluronan Sciences (ISHAS) in Portland, OR. Both got to spend time with the lovely people in the field and both gave presentations with Dorothea receiving the Mark Lauer Prize for the best presentation by a trainee along with the travel award! Congratulations, Dorothea!
5.30.23 Welcome REU students The lab welcomes summer REU student Lauren Washco and welcomes back Paul Williams who has been working with us over the last year but is also staying on over the summer as a part of the REU program. Great to have a lively lab during the summer months.
2.22.23 Group presentations at Biophysical Society meeting Dorothea and Ian each presented a poster at the 2023 Biophysical Society meeting in San Diego, CA. Excellent representation from the nanopore community as usual and we were glad to be able to contribute to the conversations. Great work!
